Draft day #2

With a follow up on more news and rumors from this mornings post, here is some more info that has been shared in the hockey world today.

Carl Soderberg has signed a 5 year contract with the Colorado Avalanche worth a total of $23.75 million, with an annual average of $4.75 million.   The yearly breakdown is year $5M,  $4.75M, $5M, $5M and $4M.  He has a full NTC for the first two years of his deal and a limited NTC for the final 3 years.

Another signing was  Mike Fisher staying in Nashville on a 2 year deal worth a total of $8.8M.
He has a full NTC for the entire length of his contract and his breakdown is $4.8 in the first year and $4M in the second.

Then there was the trade that has sparked a strong debate in Buffalo as to weather their GM is making the right moves.
The deal sees the Buffalo Sabres getting goaltender Robin Lehner and forward David Legwand in return for the 21st overall pick in this years draft.  Buffalo will also take on all of Legwand's contract.  This deal sees a young 23 year old (24 in July) goaltender moved to a team that is rebuilding and has lots of potential as well they get a vet in Legwand who can help lead this locker room on and off the ice.
This now solidifies the tandem of Anderson and Hammond in Ottawa for the upcoming season.

One other thing to make note of as the day rolls on is the list of teams that have multiple first round draft picks in this years draft.
Arizona (3,30), Edmonton (1,16), Ottawa (18,21), Philadelphia (7,29), Toronto (4,24) and Winnipeg (17,25).  These are all teams that have options to upgrade at the expense of a draft pick.

Thanks for reading.
There is more to come.
