Boston/Calgary trade and other rumors

So it has been a bit of a busy afternoon.
Boston somehow totally managed to irritate all of their fan base by trading away a young core defenseman for nothing more than draft picks.
They traded young d-man Dougie Hamilton to the Calgary Flames for a 1st rd (15th overall) and two 2nd round (45,52) picks.  Not sure what Sweeney is thinking with this trade, other than maybe he can flip some picks to get up to the 3rd overall draft position in a deal with Arizona, but this deal doesn't make much sense to me.
If you are a Flames fan you are hailing Treliving and Burke as hero's and should be throwing gold coins at their feet.  To add Hamilton to this defense core you are adding another 30+ point producing player to one of the most offensively talented back ends in the NHL.
It should be noted though that Hamilton is a RFA this year.

As if Boston hasn't done enough so far today, they are rumored to be shopping forward Milan Lucic around for a high price.  It sounds like right now the Los Angeles Kings are the front runners to land Lucic but it remains to be seen who will go the other way or who the Bruins are looking for.  Most likely multiple prospects or a combo of picks and prospects seems to be the answer.

More on the Bruins front, they have signed d-man Adam McQuaid to a 4 year deal worth a total of $11M.  An AAV of $2.75M.  I'm unsure if there is and NTC or what the annual pay would be in each year.

The Minnesota Wild have landed former Golden Gopher Mike Reilly which will help out their defense.

Martin St. Louis has said that he isn't ready to retire yet, but it was posted earlier that he will not be back with the New York Rangers.  It isn't clear where he could land but you won't be seeing him in Rangers colors.  A possible destination was rumored to be Pittsburgh.

More to come.
Thanks for reading.
