Re-visit to Canadian teams with a shot

So at the start of the season I had a post where I briefly talked about what Canadian teams I thought would be the best this year and who may make the playoffs.
I wanted to re-visit my predictions and see exactly where those teams stand at the moment.

First off I wanted to touch on the Eastern Conference teams.  I had the Montreal Canadians as a Canadian team with the best shot to make the post season.  As it stands right now, that prediction is correct.  In fact all of my predictions about the Eastern teams seem to be correct.  At the moment anyways.
Montreal currently sits in 4th and is the top Canadian team in the East.  They have had some struggles and some ups and downs, but they have a good team and have stayed relatively healthy so far this season and I think that they are still Canada's best shot in the east.
Toronto was the next team.  I thought they had a chance to be a cusp team and possibly make the post season.  So far this year they sit in 6th, so not far off the final place to get in.  They have also had their struggles and ups and downs.  The media had a hay day when they were having some serious downs and fans were turning on the team after a couple bad losses, but I still think that they will either be just in or just out of the post season.
The Ottawa Senators were the final eastern team that I had, and I had them missing the post season.  They currently sit in 10th and haven't made much of a splash this season.  The biggest news sadly for them was that their GM is ill.  I still don't think that they are going to make the post season because they don't have the roster or the depth this season and they should remain outside of the box looking in.  I also hope that their GM Bryan Murray remains positive and his health gets better for him. At least enough to keep him comfortable.

Onto the west.  I had the Vancouver Canucks as the only Western Conference team with a possible shot at making the post season.  So far this year, they have proved me right and wrong.  They are currently sitting first in the west and having a pretty good season.  They are fifth overall in the league and have strung some good stretches of games together.
Next off was the Calgary Flames.  I had them along with the Oilers finishing closer to the bottom of the league than the top.  Well they have proved most people wrong all season.  They currently sit fifth in the west and are only one point off of being the top seed in the Western Conference. They have shocked everyone this season and seem to continue to prove all the nay sayers wrong every game.
They have a decent shot at making it to the post season and surprising everyone.
Then there is the Edmonton Oilers.  I had them rising off of the bottom of the league and showing some improvement.  I am so far, wrong.   They are currently on a 10 game(!) losing streak and haven't looked good at all this season.  It seems everything is status quo in the "City of Champions".
Finally there are the Winnipeg Jets.  I had them in a similar position as the Ottawa Senators.  Out of the play offs and just not quite there yet.
Well to start this season they had a decent run and have surprised a few people.  Me included.  They are currently sitting in eighth and on the cusp of being a play off team.  I don't think they can sustain their play long enough to get into the post season unless they squeak in in a wild card spot.
But they have made some strides this season and should continue to move forward in the future.

Well that was a brief look back at some of my predictions from the start of the season.  Where do you think these teams will end up by the end of the regular season?  Let me know in the comments.

Thanks for reading and don't forget to +1, follow, comment and share this post and my other posts.
