Pavel (Pavlo) Padakin

Padakin was invited to the Philadelphia Flyers development camp this week where he signed an AHL only contract for the up coming 2015-16 season which will guarantee that the former WHL player will play for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (Flyers AHL affiliate).

Padakin, a RW, played two seasons for the WHL's Calgary Hitmen where he racked up 50 goals, 43 assists for a total of 94 points in just 137 games.
At the start of the 2014-15 season Padakin was traded to the Regina Pats where he amassed 26 goals and 28 assists for 54 points in 69 games which earned the undrafted overage player an invite to the Flyers development camp this summer.

Padakin is a speedy, high hockey IQ player who can move the puck fairly well and has the ability to make goalies bite on moves they shouldn't.
He tends to overthink and underwork at times which causes pressure for his line mates and defensemen.  But on the upside he has shown vast improvement from when he first entered the WHL.

He possesses the skills to be a 3rd line, maybe 2nd line, forward that can play special teams.  He was very good on the PK where he uses his speed to pressure the opposition into mistakes in which he can capitalize and create short handed offensive chances.

It is nice to see a WHL player who went undrafted take another step forward in their career with this new contract.
I look forward to seeing what he can do for his new team and maybe even one day in the NHL.

Thanks for reading.
Until next time.
